Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine, a singer-composer who is known for his distinctive blend of soul gospel jazz R&B as well as R&B. The singer's career has taken her all over the world, from Broadway to European festivals and clubs and even to the Democratic National Convention. The real name of Sunshine is Denise White. Her birthplace is Chester Pennsylvania, where she began her music career playing piano and singing at church. In Atlanta, she attended Spellman College where her musical education began in the Atlanta's R&B Scene. Jennifer Holliday (a Grammy and Tony Award-winning performer) offered her an opportunity to be the director of the choral section of Dreamgirls in Atlanta during the National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine became the focus of attention during four daily shows at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was subsequently invited to sing at the Obama's inauguration ceremony in 2009.
